Khichdi is normally made with rice, dal and some spices. It is very healthy comfort food. khichdi has many nourishing and benefits.I love to Khichdi with sugar.


                                                  Moong Dal Khichdi Recipe






Ingredients Needed:


  • Rice - 1 cup.
  • Moong dal - 1/2 cup
  • Onion -1 (medium size)
  • Potato - 2 (chopped)
  • Capsicum - 1 (chopped)
  • Peas - 1/2 cup (peeled)
  • Green chili - 2 (chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 inch long piece (grated)
  • Turmeric powder - 1/6 tea spoon.
  • Salt - according to the taste.
  • Coriander leaves - 1 table spoon (chopped)
  • Ghee - 1-2 tbsp
  • Heeng - a pinch
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Whole Black pepper - 1 tsp
  • Garlic - 4 cloves finely chopped



INSTRUCTIONS:


  • Wash moong dal and rice together and drain the water.keep aside until needed.


  • Heat ghee in a pressure cooker.Add cumin seeds,  they turns brown in colour and add chopped onions and stir until onions turns light brown.

  • Now add the chopped potatoes,capsicum and peas.  stir for a minute.
  • Add black pepper, green chilli, cloves, ginger and turmeric powder. stir along with the masala for 2-3 minutes.

  • Add drained rice and moong dal stir for 1 minute and add to salt.
  • Add 7 cup water, mix well and close the lid. Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  • Once the pressure subsides, open the cooker and  Mix it well.Garnish with coriander leaves.


  • Put butter on on each serving. the khichadi Serve with sugar, coriander chutney, kadhi, raita, or plain curd with pickle and papad on the side.
