Moong Dal Khichdi Recipe
Ingredients Needed:
- Rice - 1 cup.
- Moong dal - 1/2 cup
- Onion -1 (medium size)
- Potato - 2 (chopped)
- Capsicum - 1 (chopped)
- Peas - 1/2 cup (peeled)
- Green chili - 2 (chopped)
- Ginger - 1 inch long piece (grated)
- Turmeric powder - 1/6 tea spoon.
- Salt - according to the taste.
- Coriander leaves - 1 table spoon (chopped)
- Ghee - 1-2 tbsp
- Heeng - a pinch
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Whole Black pepper - 1 tsp
- Garlic - 4 cloves finely chopped
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Wash moong dal and rice together and drain the water.keep aside until needed.
- Heat ghee in a pressure cooker.Add cumin seeds, they turns brown in colour and add chopped onions and stir until onions turns light brown.
- Now add the chopped potatoes,capsicum and peas. stir for a minute.
- Add black pepper, green chilli, cloves, ginger and turmeric powder. stir along with the masala for 2-3 minutes.
- Add drained rice and moong dal stir for 1 minute and add to salt.
- Add 7 cup water, mix well and close the lid. Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
- Once the pressure subsides, open the cooker and Mix it well.Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Put butter on on each serving. the khichadi Serve with sugar, coriander chutney, kadhi, raita, or plain curd with pickle and papad on the side.
